My goodness! Who knew that such a storm was coming my way…Yowza! Let me back track…. Friday morning when I woke up, there was rain, coughs coming from each of my child’s mouths and I with an ear infection that I saw coming the night before. Now this is only my second ear infection ever…Well perhaps I got them as a baby or a child but I don’t remember. I found it rather inconvenient since Fridays are our busiest days. Well busy as in we are gone pretty much alllll day. We have a classical conversations style co-op that we do early in the morning,(check it out… pretty amazing, www.classicalconversations.com) then we rush over to our weekly home school group meeting with our ISP, Aslan Academy, then we have our chiropractic appointment… now all this tied in with diaper changes, nursing the wee one, “I’m hungry”, “I’m thirsty”, etc…… Well I decided to play hookie since my ear was hurting so bad.. I did however have to go to my early morning co-op because we had a mandatory meeting. Sooooo…. I had taken some garlic oil drops for my ear which worked amazing with my last ear infection but for some reason it wasn’t working to well this time around. So I came home after the meeting and put Asher to nap and just snuggled up with a blanket on the couch and took a nap with Tatiana. Wow.. I could take naps EVERYDAY if time allowed. I started to feel a little better but not good enough, however life had to go on so I got up to start dinner while Asher helped with dishes… His favorite chore..

while i was making dinner..Tabbouleh Wraps…YUM!! We wrapped them up in tortillas because we only had red leaf lettuce instead of romaine lettuce so it wasn’t sturdy enough to hold the tabbouleh . Heres the recipe..
1 head romaine lettuce
1 cup medium or fine bulgur (a whole grain, found at a health food store)
2 cups water
2 cucumbers, finely chopped
1 large red onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup mints leaves finely chopped
1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
1/2 cup fresh dill, finely chopped
6 large roma tomatoes, finely chopped
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp. dried kelp
6 oz. tub of feta cheese, crumbled
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
In the morning, bring water to a boil in a saucepan, add bulgur, turn off heat, and cover with tight-fitting lid Put pan in oven preheatged to 350 and turned off, Let sit (in order to steam) all day. (Alternatively, bring water to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer on low for 30mins.)
Shake lemon juice, oil, and seasonings together in a pint jar. Add all other ingredients to bulgur and toss. Toss in lemon juice/olive oil mixture. Scoop mixture into romaine lettuce leaves to serve.

That night Turbo put some hydrogen peroxide mixed with just a couple drops of water in my ear and I woke up this morning with a pain free ear!! If you don’t know much about hydrogen peroxide, then just check out this article
Bleach vs. Peroxide
I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little ole bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. What does bleach cost?
Did you also know bleach was invented in the late 40′s? It’s chlorine, Folks! And it was used to kill our troops. Peroxide was invented during WWI in the 20′s. It was used to save and help cleanse the needs of our troops and hospitals. Please think about this.
1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe.) No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.
3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. I had fungus on my feet for years until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.
9 If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through You will not have the peroxide-burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually, so it’s not a drastic change.
11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no smearing, which is why I love it so much for this.
Well that was great until later on that day…YIKES!! I came down with a severely POUNDING headache. I’m talking about that feeling like a hammer is striking your head..yah.. that bad.. I was walking around moaning and crying in pain just hoping someone would call and ask me if they can take the pain away. No such thing happened
And then what came next, yep, puking. NO FUN! Well I would have to say that PRAISE GOD for movies, chicken dinos and a relatively responsible 8yr old to look after Judah and Asher while Tatiana and I slept off and on in the dark bedroom. I was so lucky too that Turbo was able to get off work early as well because at that point I was able to really sleep off the pain. My sweet little boys were doing everything to help…offering to bring water, eating whatever we had available for them to reach with out complaint of still being hungry. Now if you have boys you know they like to EAT. At least mine do. They are hungry every 5 minutes it feels like. Well they pretty much ate a whole loaf a bread, lots of bananas and some granola bars before I was able to get up and get that stash of Chicken dinos in the freezer that I bought specifically for a day like this. Oh my poor kids. Well its a new day and I feel great aside of the sore tummy and head. Ready to start a new week.
